Open the Pattern tab and choose a photo of a quilt. For the best results:
QuiltPlan finds the blocks and colors and rebuilds them as a pattern you can edit: swap colors, add borders, resize, and save. Your photo is processed entirely on your phone and is never uploaded.
No — when QuiltPlan can't confidently find the block seams (busy prints, angled shots, quilts with unusual piecing), it shows your photo as a color pattern you can still edit. You can adjust the grid and try again, or keep the color version. Both are real, usable starting points.
No. Turning photos into patterns, designing quilts and blocks, building palettes, and the shopping list all work without an account. A free account does one thing: it backs up the designs you save and syncs them across your devices.
Yes — the app is built to work on your device, so you can design at a retreat, on a plane, or in a shop with no signal. Signing in and backing up your designs are the only parts that need a connection.
They're helpful estimates, not exact instructions. QuiltPlan figures yardage using 42-inch usable fabric width, adds about 15% extra, and rounds up to the nearest quarter yard. Real fabric widths, shrinkage, and how you cut all affect the final numbers — please double-check before you cut. More detail is in our Terms.
On-screen colors are close approximations of real fabric colors (QuiltPlan references Kona® Cotton color names to help you plan). Every screen shows color a little differently, so check a real swatch before buying fabric for a project you care about.
Right inside the app: open the Palette tab, tap Account, then "Delete my account." That removes your account and the designs backed up to it. You can also email us and we'll take care of it. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
